OJT- Unilab

UNILAB.

April 16, 2013

Last day.

I was able to finish everything ahead of time. I even had the time to recheck it. Because I still have a lot of time, I helped my co-intern with her sorting and binding duties. She's been doing that for almost a week.

Because it's my last day, Ms. Simone discussed to me my performance. She told me my strengths and weaknesses she observed. Also, she gave me tips how to win a job interview.

Before I left, she made me answer a career test. She gave it to me to serve as a guide for my future career. Afterwards, she explained the scores I got.

As a sign of appreciation, Ms. Simone and Ms. Mau treated me.

Oh btw, PBA legends visited the HR department to promote an event by Unilab for its employees. :)

Am surely gonna miss my place and the people around there. :)

Today, I continued updating the profiles of the employees.

Ms. Simone explained everything about the Unilab's Human Resource Department. She explained division-per-division. Our discussion lasted for an hour.

Final task.

Today, I updated the profile of selected employees. By updating their profiles, their educational background and no. of years of the company was also checked. Also, I verified if they got promoted or moved to other division.

Ms. Simone took time to explain and answer all my questions about talent management. She narrated some of the companies rules and ways regarding maintaining, developing and promoting employees. One of the best things I liked about my supervisor was that she was very patient and approachable.

Also today, I was able to witness how the bosses announce the nominees for top employees. The employees were very supportive of each other.

Certificates.

My task for today was to check the certificates of the employees. The certificates were from seminars or programs they attended. Recorded it afterwards. The certificates is necessary to be credited for some benefits.

While doing my task, I realized that Unilab really values and invests in their employees. They spend thousands to give seminars to their employees.

After I recorded the certificates, it will be passed to benefits section.

Sorry for blogging short lately. :) I'm very drained na po kasi when I reach home.

I made a document of the PAMS from 2011 and 2013 of selected employees. The document is relevant to track down if they improve or not.

During the lunch break, I’ve noticed how eager and dedicated some employees were. They rather sit in their chair and face their laptops rather than eat. Also, despite their positions, they still have time to mingle and chitchat with other employees.

After I finished my work, I helped my co-interns

with their task.

Btw, here's a picture of my workplace. :)

Bored. :)

Orientation.

We had orientation today. I’ve met new friends. Whoopie! Oh, and I also saw some familiar faces from MC whose gonna spend their 200hrs. at Unilab.

We had safety and security orientation. Policies and rules were mentioned. Some reported cases were told to serve as learning examples daw. One of the most important thing I learned today was how to use a fire extinguisher. Before akala ko I’ll just gonna press it to work but thanks to Unilab napatunayan kong mali ako.

We had picture taking for our ID.

Unilab is very strict. Sobrang higpit. It’s a good thing though.

The orientation made me even more excited to work there. I like the people kasi very accommodating sila. J

I validated the employees’ PAMS. I’m not sure what P-A-M-S stands for but these were forms that all regular employees answer regarding their performance. I need to validate 3000+ PAMS so I wasn’t able to finish it.

They value their employees much. How can I say this? PAMS is about evaluation, with this, I believe that this is an ingredient to be qualified for higher positions. Also, malalaman ng organization what’s the perspective of their employees (kung satisfied ba sila or what). It is a privilege to be entrusted with these confidential documents.

I observed that every employees call each other “Ma’am” or “Sir”. Kahit boss “Ma’am” ang tawag sa maintenance staff. With this, I can see their respect for each other. I was flattered when Ms. Mau called me “Ma’am”. Sobrang sarap pakingan.

First day of work!

What did I feel? I’m more excited than nervous. Why? Sa Unilab ako magwwork. UNILAB is UNILAB.

I’ve met my bosses Ms. Mau and Ms. Simone. Ms. Mau introduced me to the tasks I will be doing. To summarize everything she said, I will be analyzing and helping them identify the top performers for the year. Sounds exciting for me.

I'm honored to be entrusted in that line of activities because it’s about performance. Big responsibility!

So to begin, Ms. Shine taught me how to evaluate employees. She was very patient and accommodating. She’s nice! And oh, she’s also a product of Miriam College kaya mej comfortable ako.

Ms. Tin gave my time cards. Because I don’t know how to use the machine, Ms. Simone accompanied me. She also gave some introductions about the organization.

First was amazing! Sobrang warm ng mga employees. :)
